Change plan, get invoices or cancel

You willSwitch plan, download invoices, change your card or cancel, and know what happens when a plan gets smaller.
Time3 min
Why it mattersBilling changes take a minute, and nothing you share is lost when you move to a smaller plan.
You needA Plotlay account on a paid plan.

Try it in Plotlay → Opens an example project with this lesson beside it. Nothing to install.

Steps

  1. Choose Account (top right). Beside your email it says your plan, such as Pro, monthly, and below it when it renews.
The top of Your account: alex@example.com on Pro, monthly, renewing in November, with Billing & invoices and Change plan.
  2. Choose Change plan for Plotlay plans. On Pro or Team, Switch to Team (or to Pro) changes the subscription you have: you pay the difference for the rest of the period.
  3. Choose Billing & invoices to open the billing page, run by Stripe: download invoices, change the card, or cancel.
  4. After cancelling, Account says when the plan ends. You keep it until then; renew in Billing & invoices if you change your mind.
  5. Moving to a smaller plan removes nothing. In Share, a project over the new limit says so, such as 4 of 3 editors: everyone keeps their access, and new invites wait until there is room.
The top of the Share dialog after a move to a smaller plan: You are over your plan’s limit, 4 of 3 editors. Existing access stays; new invites are paused.

Tips

  • People on a team get their plan through the team, so their Account has no billing buttons: the team owner pays and changes it.
  • Prices are in Australian dollars, including GST where it applies. Each invoice is on the billing page.

Common mistakes

  • Ignoring a payment failed note in Account: update the card in Billing & invoices by the date it gives, or the plan ends.
  • Expecting a Project pass to renew: it lasts 30 days and then stops. Choose Pro for work that goes on.
