Plotlay Scan questions

• How do I connect the app to a Plotlay project?

  In Plotlay on the web, choose Scan rooms, then Show the QR code and pairing code. Plotlay shows a QR code and an 8-character code. In Plotlay Scan, choose Connect to a Plotlay project (Connect to Plotlay on Android) and scan the QR code, or type the code. If you sign in to Plotlay Scan with your Plotlay account, you can send straight to one of your projects without a code.

• My pairing code doesn’t work

  Each code works once and expires after 24 hours. Plotlay makes a code only when you ask for one, so an old or used code can’t be brought back: in Plotlay, choose Show the QR code and pairing code again for a new one. Codes use letters and the digits 2 to 9 only, with no I, O, 0 or 1, so there is nothing to mix up when you type one.

• Can I send a scan with no signal?

  Yes. Tap Send to Plotlay as usual: the app keeps the scan and sends it by itself as soon as the phone is back online, even if you close the app in the meantime.

• How do I delete scans?

  On iPhone and iPad, swipe a scan in the list to delete it. To remove everything the app keeps on the device (scans, photos, room models and the list of sends), use Delete my scans in Settings on iPhone and iPad, or About on Android. A copy you already sent is held by our service only until it expires (at most 7 days, or 30 days for a scan request), and the project it went to keeps its own copy, which its owner can delete in Plotlay.

• How do I delete my account?

  In Plotlay Scan, open Settings (iPhone and iPad) or About (Android), then Plotlay account, Delete my account. In Plotlay on the web, open the account menu and choose Delete my account. Either way it happens straight away: any paid subscription is cancelled, and the projects you own, their files and the scans you asked for or sent to a project are deleted. If you can’t sign in, email hello@plotlay.io from the address on the account. The privacy policy has the details.

• Which devices does Plotlay Scan work on?

  iPhone and iPad with iOS 16 or later. On a device with LiDAR (Pro models of iPhone and iPad), walk around the room and the walls, doors, windows and furniture are measured as you go. On any other iPhone or iPad, aim at each floor corner and tap. Outdoor capture, the sample scan and every export work on both.

  Android 8.0 or later. On a phone with Google Play Services for AR (ARCore), measure with the camera by tapping each floor corner. On a phone without ARCore, Measure by hand: type the lengths from a tape or laser, sketch the rooms, or trace them on a photo or PDF of a floor plan.

• Do I need an account?

  No. Measuring, exporting and sending with a code all work without one. Signing in is optional and needs an existing Plotlay account; the app sends a sign-in code to your email.
