Share your plan with family or a builder

You willSend a link that opens your plan, or a PDF or project file, to people who need to see it.
Time3 min

Try it in Plotlay → Opens an example project with this lesson beside it. Nothing to install.

Steps

  1. For a picture or PDF anyone can open, choose Export, then Picture or Printable PDF, and send the file.
  2. For someone who uses Plotlay, such as a designer, choose Export, then Share and Project file. It has everything, images included.
  3. For a link to the live plan, Sign in (a free account is enough), then choose Share in the top bar.
  4. Under Links, type who it is for (Builder), choose how long it works, then Make link. The link is copied: paste it into a message or email.
The Share dialog: under Links, a view link labelled Builder that works for 7 days, with Copy link, Change start and Turn off.
  5. Anyone with the link can look round the plan and walk through it in 3D without an account. Turn off stops the link working.

Tips

  • On the Free plan a link works for up to 7 days and carries a small Plotlay mark. Paid plans have links that never expire.
  • Use Invite people instead when they should comment or pick between design options.

Common mistakes

  • Sending a project file to someone without Plotlay: send a PDF or a link instead.
  • Forgetting old links: turn off a link when the builder no longer needs it.
