Get design ideas (beta)
You willSee your room restyled by AI in a few styles, read the changes each picture suggests, and add the ones you like as a new design option.
Time4 min
Why it mattersExplore a look before you draw it: each suggestion says whether Plotlay has it, so an idea becomes a design you can price.
You needA Plotlay account. A free account has 4 idea pictures a month; Project pass has 10, Pro 20 and Team 60, shared with Enhance.
Try it in Plotlay → Opens an example project with this lesson beside it. Nothing to install.
Steps
- Open 3D, stand in the room, then open Export and choose Photo render.
- Choose Get design ideas (beta). Pick a style (Japandi, Scandinavian, Coastal and more) or write your own brief, and how many pictures (up to 4). The line under it says how many idea pictures you have left.
- Choose Get ideas. The pictures are made from your render with its walls, windows and depth as a guide, then each is read into a list of changes. It takes a few minutes: about 3 to 5 for 2 pictures.
- Choose Open ideas. Flick between the pictures; tick Show what changed to see where each differs from your render.
- Each suggestion is marked Can do, Close match (with what differs) or Not in Plotlay yet. Tick the ones you want and choose Add as a design option: they go into a new option such as Ideas: Japandi, and the design you see stays as it was until you choose that option.
Tips
- Ideas are AI generated and may differ from your design: shapes and sizes can change. Every picture says so in its corner.
- Things a suggestion adds go in the middle of the room, or where the thing they replace stands: move them into place.
- Undo takes an added idea option out again.
- This is a beta: tell us what works and what doesn’t through Help, Contact support.
Common mistakes
- Expecting the idea to be your design: it is a picture of an idea. Add the suggestions you like, then check them in the plan.
- Looking for the pictures in Documents: they stay with the job in the cloud panel for 30 days.
Words in this lesson
- Design option
- One of two or more versions of part of a design, such as two vanities, kept in one project. Drawings show the chosen one; 3D can show another for a look. Clients can pick the one they like.
