Adjust an estimate with your own rates
You willFix any line, lock it, add your own lines and use your own rates and price lists in every estimate.
Time5 min
Why it mattersYour rates and your suppliers’ prices turn an indicative estimate into your own.

Steps
- In the Lines tab, change a quantity, rate, hours or description. What you set shows in blue and is kept when the estimate is regenerated.
- Choose the padlock on a line to lock it: Regenerate from the model then leaves it exactly as it is.
- Choose Add a line for work the model doesn’t show: a provisional sum, a prime cost item, an allowance, an exclusion or an optional extra.
- Choose My rates in the list on the left to set your hourly rates for each trade, then Save.
- Choose Import a price list (CSV or Excel) to bring in a supplier’s prices: code, description, unit, price and supplier columns. It becomes a rate set you can switch between.
- Under Settings, set markups, contingency, tax and rounding, then Use these as my defaults for new estimates.
Tips
- The star on a line you have priced saves that rate as yours, so future estimates use it.
- Choose Save version before a big change, and compare versions later in Versions.
- Your rates and business profile stay with your account, not the project.
Common mistakes
- Editing a quote that has been sent: make a New revision first, so the client’s copy stays as it was.
- Importing a price list with no code column: each row needs a code (a price line or a fit-out kind such as toilet) and a price.
Words in this lesson
- Fit-out
- The fixed things that go into a room: vanities, toilets, kitchen runs, appliances, lights and joinery. Fit-out is placed against a wall and built in 3D.
